There are many good resources on the web for authors and illustrators.
Here are some of the sites that I have found helpful!

The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) This should be the first place you visit if you want to write or illustrate children's books.

Children's Book Council Information about books, publishers, authors and illustrators.

The Purple Crayon Tons of helpful articles and advice.

Smartwriters.com A terrific resource site for children's book writers, illustrators and teachers.

Authorlink For those of us who can't read enough articles about writing, this site offers more.

Picturing Books An interesting site about how picture books are made.

Cynthia Leitich Smith's website Articles, advice, links and a wonderful resource maintained by this author.

Verla Kay's website Check out the transcripts page for lots of good interviews with agents, editors and authors/illustrators.

Education World A site geared toward teachers, offering information about state and national education standards- helpful when trying to figure out how your book might fit into school curriculum.

Publisher's Weekly Stay up to date with what's happening in the publishing world.

The Horn Book Articles and reviews from the magazine. It's worth the price of a subscription, too.
